Rather than rehash the issue 24-7 I'll pick a random thread to link to.
We had yet another battleship jump through a gate an log. Thanks to the massive increase in ship hitpoints (50%) and the new focus on passive tanking (which is a good thing!) this dominix was easily able to last the measely 60 seconds required to survive a pirate camp in low security space.
//Start Sarcasm I'm sure this is an intended tactic and justifies the 1 minute timer completely. //End Sarcasm
Please refer to this thread as an example of a logoff tactic that has been corrected (interdiction spheres): [url="http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=457940[/url]
Can we please hear a date on when this issue is going to be addressed?
Honestly if it happens another 2-3 times I'm probably canceling my account. Its an exploit. If you need a definition of an exploit let me help you out:
Exploit: to use or manipulate to one's advantage; "He exploit the new taxation system"; "She knows how to work the system"; "he works his parents for sympathy"
i.e. closing your client to avoid combat in LOW SECURITY (read PvP) Space.
/end rant
Fix it--this is rediculous.

You know...rather than rant at what I see as obvious why don't I present a solution?
Currently there is a one minute timer. How about this: if within that one minute you are engaged in PvP you're flag becomes a PvP flag. Meaning you're scrambled for 2 min and then you warp away where you can be probed.
Seems like a reasonable solution.

--or we could just implement a variable flag and if within that first minute you are engaged in PvP you get the PvP flag...seems logical enough.

Negative!
That is only true if he was shot BEFORE he logged off.
Since he logged at the time of jumping through the gate this results in 1 minute until he randomly disappears!
(We had probes standing by for that case and he definitely wasn't around).
And this is exactly my point--there should be a timer and there isn't.
